Optimization of Centralized Equalization Systems Based on an Integrated Cascade Bidirectional DC–DC Converter

This article presents a novel integrated cascade bidirectional dc–dc converter for optimizing centralized charge equalization system. Through the structure, polarity switches and in traditional system are integrated, cells with different voltage polarities equalized by controlling operating state of converter. Compared conventional methods, number active is significantly reduced, leading to more compact size higher reliability. Moreover, phase-shifted pulsewidth modulation strategy, peak value transformer current reduced soft-switching operation realized, thus greatly reducing switching losses. Finally, experimental results on 13 series-connected battery show that proposed scheme exhibits excellent performance terms equalizing efficiency speed. The improvement equalizer further validated systematic comparison methods.
